The concept of the museum is “historical moments”. On the one hand, it emphasizes its historicity. It is the memory of the 100-year history of the Expo. On the other hand, it emphasizes its instantaneity. Each Expo is a short few months, just like the blooming fireworks are fleeting, and what the museum wants to record are these moments. Museum design uses the two elements of river valley and cloud. River valley expresses the history and the thickness of the precipitation. Cloud expresses the instant moment and the changes in the future.

The Cloud of Celebration

欢庆之云”既是使用空间，又为地面广场提供了天然的遮蔽物，并在城市层面上将空间让位于城市。它让原本“河谷”平面化的围合又增加了一个新的维度，形成更为丰富的间隙空间。
“Celebration Cloud” not only uses space, but also provides a natural shelter for the ground square, and gives way to the city on the urban level. It adds a new dimension to the originally flattened enclosure of the “river valley”, and forming a more abundant interstitial space.
“欢庆之云”独特的“悬浮钢结构壳体”是一种不借助外部结构的自承重结构体系，它的围护结构与支撑结构是无缝连接，呈现出优美的姿态。
The unique “suspension steel shell” of “Celebration Cloud” is a self-supporting structural system that does not rely on external structures. Its enclosure and supporting structures are seamlessly connected, presenting a graceful posture.

“历史河谷”是世博会博物馆的主体部分，体量分裂后形成的室外空间与场地共同形成了一个完整的系统，公众活动顺着场地从城市自然引导至博物馆内，再借由河谷分流至平台、展厅或者广场。
The “Historic River Valley” is the main part of the World Expo Museum. The outdoor space formed by the split of the volume makes up a complete system with the site. Public activities follow the site naturally from the city to the museum and then diverted by the river valley to the platform, exhibition hall or square.
河谷”幕墙选用了红铜色的铜铝复合板来营造环境视觉基调，材料的质感、色彩、块面大小、分缝位置等等作为媒介所传递出来的涵义成为了关注点。
The “River Valley” curtain wall uses copper-aluminum composite panels of red copper color to create the visual tone of the environment. The material texture, color, block size, location of the joints, etc. as the media conveyed the meaning of becoming a focus of attention.

为迎合城市的开放性特征，建筑没有采用充满场地围合内部空间的常规套路，而是将体量敞开，外化自身的公共空间，同时让城市公共空间顺着场地景观蔓延至建筑体量内部，作为主干串联起各个建筑体块。
In order to cater to the openness of the city, the building does not adopt the conventional routines that fill the site and enclose the internal space but open the volume to externalize its own public space. At the same time, it allows the urban public space to spread to the interior of the building volume along the site landscape, as the backbone to connect various building blocks in series.
利用场地、河谷与庭院的布置，博物馆通过公共空间与周边城市环境寻找到了一种对话方式，建筑空间与城市空间的相互融合强化了博物馆的开放性，也以此体现出博物馆积极面向未来的姿态。
Utilizing the layout of the site, river valley and courtyard, the museum finds a way of dialogue through the public space and the surrounding urban environment. The integration of architectural space and urban space strengthens the openness of the museum and also reflects the museum’s positive attitude towards the future.

世博会博物馆基于全历时的展示内容和相对紧张的功能面积，脱离了并联程式，在常展流线上选择了强制性的串联式流线。同时博物馆兼具多种功能，带来不一样的使用体验。
Based on the full-time display content and relatively tight functional area, the World Expo Museum has broken away from the parallel program and chose a mandatory series circulation on the regular exhibition circulation. At the same time, the museum has multiple functions, which brings a different experience.

通高的门厅搭配玻璃幕墙，营造出通透明亮的公共空间，同时与城市街景、内部庭院精密相连。门厅的灯光设计延续了“欢庆之云”构筑物的风格，采用交错随机的灯带进行照明，内外呼应。
The full-height entrance hall is matched with a glass curtain wall to create a transparent and bright public space. At the same time, it is precisely connected with the city street view and the inner courtyard. The lighting design of the foyer continues the style of the “Celebration Cloud” structure, using staggered and random light strips for lighting, echoing inside and outside.

除了水平向的地景，河谷内还借用造园的手法布置了高低错落的十个庭院。这十个庭院在河谷公共空间的组织下，隔而不塞，互为对景，或遥望呼应，或借景而视，将人文山水画中的景致关系呈现在实体空间里。
In addition to the horizontal landscape, the river valley also borrowed gardening techniques to arrange ten courtyards scattered high and low. Under the organization of the public space of the river valley, these ten courtyards are separated from each other and are opposite to each other. They may echo from a distance, or see through the scene, presenting the landscape relationship in the humanistic landscape painting in the physical space.

The Beauty of Cloud Hall
云厅内可以清晰地看见钢与玻璃是如何构筑成这朵轻盈地云彩，充满了现代主义建筑大师詹姆斯·斯特林（James Sterling）所推崇的那种“更轻巧灵动、更富有色彩、更动人心弦的东西”。
In the Cloud Hall, you can clearly see how steel and glass form this light cloud. It is full of the kind of “lighter, smarter, more colorful, and more moving things” advocated by the modernist architect James Sterling.
通透明亮的“云厅”空间是相对于传统博物馆封闭空间的一种全新体验，形体的不确定性使功能的定义自由灵活，人们在这里可以体验天空以及光线的无穷变化，与“瞬间”的设计主题不谋而合。
The transparent and bright “Cloud Hall” space is a new experience compared to the enclosed space of traditional museums. The uncertainty of shape makes the definition of functions free and flexible. People can experience the endless changes of the sky and light, and “moments” here. The design theme coincides with each other.
